The 5 key drag moves you need to work on to be effective on the pitch
Keep the ball connected to the stick longer by adjusting the stick face.
A face that is too open or too closed loses power early.
Point the right index finger down the stick, feel the ball on the stick head, and experiment with stick angles before trying for distance.
Receive away from the defender's line of pressure to create time for a pass, carry or shot.
Practise the reverse-stick tomahawk for a more consistent strike.

A variation of the wide-base receive that creates a passing option without moving the feet. Focus on precision and speed.
Improve the reception so the next movement or pass can happen smoothly.
Stickwork around cones that can be practised anywhere, including inside-of-body pulls.

Show & go elimination skills for all sideline players, ever feel stuck when you receive the ball in the outlet, receive the ball on the move, track on a diagonal and drag across your body
Change this one thing about your push pass to see more consistent results
Things to remember when doing your V-Drag:
1) Keep your hips facing forward as you pull forward then back (let it feel awkward at first).
2) Always plant with your inside foot. This is what helps DISGUISE where you want to go
3) Use a quick change of speed when pulling forward and back
4) Sprint into the new space that you created
The ball and stick should feel glued together. When you are lifting the ball.
Get that ball moving on your reception ✨💫Such an attacking reception, the ability to play forward at speed will ensure you dominate in attack. A textbook skill from Olympian 🇺🇸 🎉
Most players carry with the ball stuck in their feet…so they end up looking down the whole time.Get it out in front. Left hand down to your knee. Now you can actually see the game.
You want the ball in line with your right foot. Ball too far in front and you hit the ground first, then catch the ball with the back of the stick.
Ball too far behind and you hit the top of the ball, or pull it way left.In games the ball is moving, so the real skill is this: Move the ball on the correct line before you strike.
Pick your target in the goal. Imagine the line from the ball to that target. Your stick angle needs to be perpendicular (90°) to that line.
So when you set up, your touch should move the ball along the same line your stick needs to be on. If you get the line right, the backhand becomes automatic.
This is such an effective elimination. Here are the stages you need to follow in order master it!Practice. Progress. Perform.
The biggest mistake most players make when defending is believing they have to win the ball to be considered a good defender. That simply isn’t true. There are actually four key outcomes that can be considered a defensive success: 1. Winning the ball – the obvious one, but not the only one. 2. Stopping the attacker’s movement – forcing them to a standstill. 3. Making them turn their back – cutting off forward options. 4. Forcing a pass – especially a backwards or sideways one.Great defenders don’t always win the ball — they make the attacker’s job harder in every possible way
There’s just a couple of small changes that turn push passes into flicks. 1. Move the ball from the middle of the stance to in front of the left.2. Follow through high. That’s how I get my players to flick the ball in under 2 minutes.
1. Keeping in line, and not getting past the ball, otherwise then you are having to work your wrists around the back. Super tricky.
2. Don’t roll the ball and crab, you will find yourself not being able to shoot cleanly.
3. No daylight between hands - this reduces power.
Most players think power comes from swinging harder. That’s exactly why their tomahawk flops. The real power comes from the rotation through the hips. Fix that… and then watch how much harder you can hit it.

The real secret to power in the hit!Hitting the ball is the most powerful technique in hockey. We need to build up power in the stick by delaying our delivery of the stick to the ball.Stick and arms should be 90 degrees when arms get to the ball which is when the hands rip through the power zone!Stay low, stay balanced and follow through 🤩
RONAN TAGGART "Most players think hitting is all about the swing. It isn’t. Better distance from the ball gives your body room to work, your legs room to generate force, and your strike becomes far more consistent.Small adjustment. Big difference.Save this for your next session.
